Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Making Plays is operated by [Your registered legal entity name], registered at [Registered business address]. For anything relating to your privacy or this policy, contact us at privacy@makingplays.ai. We are the “controller” of the personal data described here.

2. The data we collect

Information you give us

  • Email address — when you subscribe to the newsletter or request a free resource or play.
  • Name and account details — if you create an account, join the community, or purchase a Play.
  • Payment information — handled by our payment and community providers (see §5). We do not store your full card details on our servers.
  • Anything you send us — messages, support requests, survey responses, or content you post in the community.

Information we collect automatically

  • Usage and device data — pages viewed, referring URLs, browser and device type, and approximate location derived from your IP address.
  • Server logs — including IP address and timestamps, kept by our hosting provider to keep the site secure and running.

See our Cookie Policy for detail on cookies and similar technologies.

3. How we use your data

  • To send the newsletter and the free resources you ask for.
  • To provide, deliver, and support the Plays, courses, and community.
  • To process payments, manage memberships, and handle refunds.
  • To respond to your messages and provide customer support.
  • To measure what content is useful and improve the site and our products.
  • To keep the site secure and prevent fraud or abuse.
  • To comply with our legal and tax obligations.

4. Our legal bases (UK/EU)

Where the UK GDPR and EU GDPR apply, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Consent — for sending you marketing emails. You can withdraw it any time (see §8).
  • Contract— to deliver a Play, course, or membership you've purchased and to process the payment.
  • Legitimate interests— to secure and improve the site and understand how it's used, balanced against your rights.
  • Legal obligation— to keep records we're required by law to keep.

5. Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers that help us run Making Plays, each acting on our instructions under a data-processing agreement:

  • Kit (kit.com) — email marketing; stores your email and newsletter activity.
  • Circle (circle.so) — community and course platform; hosts member accounts, profiles, and the Plays.
  • Payment processor — used by our community platform to take payments securely.
  • Vercel — website hosting and content delivery; processes server logs.

We may also disclose data where required by law, to enforce our terms, or in connection with a business transfer. Some pages link to third-party tools, including affiliate links; those sites have their own privacy policies (see §11).

6. International transfers

Some of our providers are based outside the UK/EEA (for example, in the United States). Where your data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision.

7. How long we keep it

We keep newsletter data until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Account, purchase, and billing records are kept for as long as you have an account and afterwards only as long as needed for our legal, tax, and accounting obligations. Server logs are retained for a short period for security.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your data; to restrict or object to certain processing; and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email privacy@makingplays.ai. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails instantly using the link in any email. If you're in the UK/EU and think we've handled your data improperly, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)— but we'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.

9. Security

We use reputable providers and reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

10. Children

Making Playsis intended for professionals and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we'll delete it.

11. Third-party links

Our site links to other websites and tools we don't control, some via affiliate links. We're not responsible for their content or privacy practices — please review their policies before sharing your data.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, give you reasonable notice.
